Baku. ELnur Mammadli – APA. Leadership of the “Movement for Karabakh and Republic” held a press conference. Coordinator of the movement, director of Peace and Democracy Institute Leyla Yunus said initiative groups “For Karabakh and Republic” and “Republicans” had undergone pressure during signature collection campaign. She said both persons collecting signatures and the above-mentioned initiative groups mostly underwent pressure in the regions.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Ali Karimli said the opposition had set up the biggest coalition of the past years and added that serious results might be achieved.

Chairman of Musavat Party Isa Gambar said pressures on opposition initiative groups aimed at not registering them.
“If these initiative groups are not registered, the movement will continue mass events,” he said.

Chairperson of National Unity Movement Lala Shovkat said the Council of Europe and other international organizations supported the government and it resulted in such a situation. Lala Shovkat said she had high hopes for new US President Barack Obama.
“But we should not wait for America. America has much work to do in terms of Afghanistan and Iraq. That’s why we should try to solve our problems ourselves,” she said.

The movement made a statement at the press conference. The statement demands to stop pressure against the oppositionists and considers that international organizations should pay more attention on this issue.
