CEC registers ruling partyâ€™s â€œNew Azerbaijanâ€ Initiative Group on referendum as campaign group

APA reports that â€œNew Azerbaijanâ€ Initiative Group was registered as campaign group. CEC secretary Natig Mammadov said that the initiative group had submitted 46,950 signatures to the commission, 43,881 of them were considered valid, 3069 signatures invalid.
Responsible representative of â€œNew Azerbaijanâ€ Initiative Group Siyavush Novruzov attending the meeting said CEC had examined the signatures and passed an objective decision.
â€œWe try to prevent mistakes in the collection of signatures. But of course mistakes happen, where there are people,â€ he said.

Some normative acts, rules on preparation of final protocols on the results of the voting, text, form, number and preparation of notifications for informing the voters about the place and time of the voting were confirmed at the meeting.
Moreover, the composition of a number of election constituencies was changed.

The referendum on amendments and annexes to Azerbaijanâ€™s Constitution will be held on March 18, this year. According to the Electoral Code, only campaign groups may be the subject of the referendum.
