Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan: Iran invited Azerbaijani officials to talk over natural gas

Iranian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Afshar Suleymani held a press conference on the overall results of 2006, APA reports. The ambassador said that the trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 30% compared with 2005. He considers that this indicator is not satisfactory and the real potential of Azerbaijan and Iran is above this. Noting that there is no problem in Iranâ€™s supplying Azerbaijan with gas Afshar Suleymani said bilateral negotiations over the issue should continue.
â€œIran has invited Azerbaijani officials to discussions over this,â€? he said.
Worrying that Iran is kept aloof from the talks on Nagorno Karabakh conflict the diplomat accused present mediators of applying double standards.
â€œIran is the closest state to the conflict. Some forget it. Iran has more potentials.â€? he said. /APA/
