Azerbaijani President: Suspension of big enterprises causes concern

The head of state said suspension of big enterprises caused concern.
â€œOn the one hand we are concerned over the suspension of big enterprises, on the other hand, taking into account Azerbaijanâ€™s mighty economic potential, we can say that this is of temporary character. I am sure that big enterprises will restore operation soon. The people working there are supported by the state, they get and will get their salaries,â€ he said.

The President said the implementation of the State Program on socio-economic development of regions within the past five years was positive, added that a new program had been prepared for the next five years and its implementation had already started.

The head of state said the main sphere of the countryâ€™s economy was power engineering and noted that all oil-producing countries, including Azerbaijan faced some difficulties due to the fall of oil prices.
â€œDespite this, all social programs are being implemented, infrastructural projects are being continued. The crisis also has a positive influence on Azerbaijan. The consumer prices have fallen. But the people working in the budgetary bodies get their salaries in time, pensions are paid, increased year-after-year and will be increased in future. Our economy has increased recently. Economic collapse is observed in the whole world, while economic growth is recorded in Azerbaijan. It shows that the main reason of our achievements is not the oil price, but the reforms, excellent mood, atmosphere in the society,â€ he said.
