Commemorative event on 17th anniversary of Shusha’s occupation by Armenians held in Martyrs’ Alley

Commemorative event with participation of the representatives of Shusha region executive power, Karabakh Liberation Organization, Public Union “Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Karabakh” was held in the Martyrs’ Alley on the 17th anniversary of the occupation of Shusha, APA reports. The participants visited the graves of the martyrs and laid wreath before the Eternal Torch Complex. Head of Shusha region executive power, head of Public Union “Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Karabakh” Bayram Safarov told journalists that the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev became intensified.
“Shusha residents hope that they will return to Shusha under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev. See you in Shusha,” he said.

The Armenian military units occupied ancient Azerbaijani city Shusha on May 8, 1992. Over 480 civilians were killed, about 2000 people were wounded and over 22,000 were displaced during the occupation. 279 historical monuments, 44 schools and other cultural monuments of Azerbaijanis were destroyed.
