Baku. Elnur Mammadli–APA. Movement for Karabakh and the Republic issued a statement on the negotiations over the opening of Turkey-Armenia borders, Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) told APA. Unconditional opening of the Turkey-Armenia borders will contribute to the strengthening of position of Armenia, which has groundless claims against Azerbaijan and Turkey, the movement said. The opening of borders is unacceptable because it will damage Turkey-Azerbaijan relations and will contribute to the interests of Russia and Armenia in the South Caucasus, the statement reads. Instigating of some anti-Turkey forces in Azerbaijan will not contribute to the solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and will create new problems in Azerbaijan-Turkey relations. “The unconditional opening of the borders is not within the interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan. It is unacceptable to allow coolness between Azerbaijan and Turkey because next generations will not forgive us. Some forces are trying to use this situation to violate relations and mutual trust between Turkey and Azerbaijan, to isolate them and to achieve domination in the region”, the statement reads. The Movement called on the Turkish people, officials, political parties and intellectuals to say “No” to the unconditional opening of the borders.
Chairman of Vahdat Party Tahir Karimli also issued a statement against this issue.
