APA reports that after three successful years, Portugal didn’t manage to reach the Final of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf with Homens Da Luta. This year they aim to reach the Final again with Filipa Sousa who just won Festival Da Cancão 2012 with the song Vida Minha (My life). Last week the names of the candidate songs in Portugal’s Festival da Canção 2012 were announced. This competition has traditionally been used as the Portuguese national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.
It was also confirmed that, as fado has been added to the World Heritage list of the UNESCO, the songs in this year’s Festival will be in that music genre. 400 people submitted applications for participating in the contest.
12 people of them took part in the 2012 Festival da Canção. The song is written by Andrej Babich. Filipa Sousa will represent Portugal in the second Semi-Final of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku on the 24th of May.

The Swedish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, just celebrated its 2012 final at Globen Arena in Stockholm. After the votes of 11 international juries and the Swedish people televote, it was clear that Loreen was the winner with the song Euphoria. After four semi-finals and a second chance round in the past five weeks, tonight it was decided who will represent Sweden in Baku in a great top-quality entertainment show, the final of Melodifestivalen 2012. Euphoria is written by Thomas G:son and Peter Boström. Thomas G:son already has a song in the final of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest as he co-wrote the Spanish entry Quédate Conmigo performed by Pastora Soler. Peter Boström also co-wrote the Norwegian entry, Tooji’s Stay which, like Sweden, will also take part in the second semi-final on the 24th of May. Last year Eric Saade with his “Popular” song won the bronze medal.

Tonight, we finally found out who will represent Romania in Baku in May.
15 songs competed to represent their country but after the professional jury and public had voted it was clear who the winner was. Mandinga with Zaleilah had a convincing victory and will now wave the Romanian flag in Baku on the 22nd of May. The show took place over three sessions with the 15 acts split into the first two with the results being read out in the third. There were very special guest appearances from amongst others Anggun from France and Jedward from Ireland.
