An event titled Focusing on Improving Climate Solutions with the participation of Persons with Disabilities was held on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Baku, APA reports.

Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, Anar Karimov, spoke about the importance of such events and highlighted the significance of the ceremony.

He mentioned that Azerbaijan also has implemented several projects aimed at social protection for people with disabilities: "So far, allowances for these individuals have been increased three times, and pensions twice. We strive to keep issues related to people with disabilities on the agenda, and as the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, we will do everything we can. Supporting people with disabilities is a core part of state policy in Azerbaijan. Additionally, I would like to mention that the issue of disability and the integration of persons with disabilities into society was raised at various events during the 29th Session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Baku."

Vladanka Andreeva, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, spoke about the measures taken to ensure the participation of persons with disabilities in COP29, which took place from November 11-24 in Azerbaijan: "The comprehensive participation of persons with disabilities in the work of the conference at the venue of COP29, the provision of medical services if necessary and the creation of all conditions for their prompt evacuation in case of necessity is an expression of the importance given to them. People with disabilities make up 16 percent of the global population. It is a very positive fact that many talented individuals are among them. I would like to say that this year in New York, a document titled 'The Pact for the Future' was adopted. This document will allow everyone, regardless of their status, to have their voices heard worldwide. I believe we must do our best to implement this pact."

The conference continued with panel discussions.
