"Over 77,000 people have registered to participate in COP29, with 70% actively attending the event," Manager for Climate Action Outreach at UNFCCC Niclas Svenningsen said during an event titled "Building the Future: The Legacy of COP29 in Azerbaijan and Around the World," APA reports.
"I believe that after COP28 held in Dubai, the second largest COP event took place in Baku. Previous COP organizers had 2-3 years to prepare for the event, but Azerbaijan had only 10 months to prepare for the COP event. The result is amazing for such a short time frame. I congratulate the government of Azerbaijan on this. Nearly 400 observers and around 200 organizations participated in COP29," he said.
According to Niclas Svenningsen, decisions on the outcomes of COP29 can only be made unanimously: "I believe that in a short time – by tomorrow, or perhaps even longer – we will be able to reach an agreement. But I hope that we will conclude today."
