"Negotiations on the new collective quantified target should continue," Annalena Baerbock, the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, said at a press conference held in Baku today within the framework of COP29, APA reports.
She mentioned that they understand and accept their responsibilities regarding the financial provision of the Loss and Damage Fund: "However, other countries should also share this responsibility. To do so, they must be part of the mitigation measures accepted globally. In this regard, China, along with other countries, must play an important role and actively participate. I cannot say anything about the details of the climate finance negotiations. I do not want to make big promises. As for who will pay this money, there are different opinions here. Some countries do not want to ensure their share of financing. Currently, intensive negotiations are being conducted between the European Union and China, as well as other countries. There are only a few hours left to reach a final agreement, so the parties must intensify both their efforts and negotiations in this direction."
