Under the updated third Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) document, Azerbaijan has committed to reducing emissions by 40% by 2035 compared to 1990 levels, Azerbaijani President’s Representative on Climate Issues Mukhtar Babayev said during his speech at the 5th Agribusiness Development Forum held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that, alongside this, a long-term Low-Carbon Development Strategy is being prepared.
“In addition, our country has joined the Global Methane Pledge initiative and declared its support for global efforts to reduce methane emissions by 2030. These targets must be integrated into national planning documents,” he stressed.
