“Environmental protection is a shared responsibility of the international community,” Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rashad Ismayilov said at an international event dedicated to World Environment Day (WED) hosted by Azerbaijan, APA reports.
The minister stated that the air we breathe, rivers, and seas are our common wealth: “Azerbaijan supports this approach and considers sustainable development a priority. It is targeted to increase the share of renewable energy to 30% by 2030. Unfortunately, the environment in the territories that remained under Armenia’s occupation for many years suffered serious damage, and acts of ecocide, urbicide, and culturicide were committed. Azerbaijan has received support from the United Nations to restore the ecological environment in Karabakh and East Zangazur.”
