The amount of damage and geopolitical problems caused by climate change in different parts of the planet is huge, said Annalena Baerbock, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany in Baku today within the framework of COP29, APA reports.

Annalena Berbok said that as an international community, it is necessary to increase efforts to achieve the 1.5 degree target in accordance with the requirements of the Paris Agreement: "We have approached the decisive stage at the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Agreement on Climate Change held in Baku. The final document is not yet ready, but its agreement is important. Even the smallest progress in this area is extremely important. We propose the establishment of an intercontinental climate coalition. This is not a problem that one country can tackle alone. Reaching an agreement on climate finance is critical to meeting the needs of countries facing the challenge of climate change. Mitigation and adaptation measures are implemented at each climate conference. So far, up to 2 trillion dollars have been invested in renewable energy sources. The European Union believes that Europe should join forces in climate finance and investment in this area. We must turn Europe into a climate continent."
