Presidential Representative for Climate Issues Mukhtar Babayev has held a number of meetings regarding COP31 to be held in Türkiye.
Mukhtar Babayev, in a statement to APA’s Türkiye bureau, said that within this framework, the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye and opportunities for joint activities were discussed.
According to him, during the meetings, possible contributions to the successful organization of COP31 were jointly reviewed: “Considering that there are numerous global and geopolitical challenges at present, we understand that our work is quite complex. Nevertheless, we continue our efforts to provide support to Türkiye at the highest level.”
Mukhtar Babayev also emphasized that, within the framework of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, he held a meeting with the leadership of Turkish Aerospace Industries: “These meetings are of particular interest, as they are able to measure emissions, especially methane gas emissions, through satellites and space observation systems using modern technologies. These technologies allow us to identify in advance which countries in the world have higher emissions, to identify them, and to provide support to those countries in this area. For example, there are opportunities for cooperation in reducing, preventing and effectively managing methane emissions. The possibilities of using unmanned aerial vehicles and other modern aviation technologies were also discussed. These technologies can play an important role during fires, as well as in the process of measuring and monitoring various emissions. Overall, within the framework of these meetings, a number of specific areas of cooperation have been identified and it is planned to continue work in this direction.”
