"The situation in the South Caucasus remains complex, but there are initial conditions for its improvement," Sergei Shoigu, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, said at the 12th meeting of the CIS Security Council secretaries held in Moscow, APA’s Russia bureau reports.
According to him, the West is obstructing the normalization of the situation and the establishment of peace in the South Caucasus: “Foreign players, primarily Western countries, are hindering this with malicious intent. This only confirms the thesis that regional problems require regional solutions. In the South Caucasus, we have done and are doing everything possible to strengthen the 3+3 regional cooperation platform. We hope that after the ministerial meeting in Istanbul, the work of this mechanism will become even more active.”
