"Russia is ready to continue its cooperation with all countries in the field of climate," The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin said during his speech at the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Baku, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, Russia is trying to reduce greenhouse emissions and is ready to cooperate with all interested countries to solve the problem on a global scale.
"Russia remains committed to low-carbon development goals. We are improving our legislation. We provide voluntary assistance to climate-sensitive countries, and we are ready to continue this work in close dialogue with all interested countries," said the Russian Prime Minister.
Mishustin also noted that carbon neutrality involves reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero in the production of goods and services or compensating for them through ecological initiatives.
He added that Russia has managed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than half from 1990 levels: "Russia plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060."
