Defense emergency likely to be announced in Georgia, some strategic facilities evacuated

The people are being evacuated from Avlabari district of Tbilisi, where President Mikhail Saakashviliâ€™s residence is located. According to unofficial information of Georgian State Secretariat, the head of state is going to announce defense emergency in the country. Mikhail Saakashvili is expected to appeal to people in connection with this. Georgiaâ€™s representative to UN Irakli Alasania accused Russia of large-scale military aggression.
â€œRussia obviously shows disrespect for the international community. This aggression aims at refraining Georgia from Euro-Atlantic orientation,â€ he said.
Irakli Alasania called on Russia to cease military operation and sit for talks.
