Beijing – APA. Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin, who is in Beijing to participate in the opening ceremony of Olympic Games, took a stance on the situation in Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti. Vladimir Putin said while meeting with Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev that Georgia’s aggressive actions against South Ossetia cast shadow on the opening of Olympic Games.
“The essence of the Olympic Games is that there should not be fighting on that day. Unfortunately, to the contrary Georgian government has actually started offensive,” he said.
Vladimir Putin considers that CIS countries should call on Georgia to cease military operations.
“Assessment should be given to this action within the framework of CIS,” he said.
