Georgian parliament confirms Mikheil Saakashvili’s resignation and hands over presidency to Nino Burjanadze

APA reports quoting Interfax that the parliament passed a resolution, which makes Parliamentary Speaker Nino Burjanadze acting president pending the election of the next president.
In his first statement as a presidential candidate Mikheil Saakashvili said that the other candidates were offered money to refuse the competition in favor of entrepreneur Badri Patarkatsishvili.
In his interview to Rustavi-2 TV channel he said that other candidates were offered money, so that Badri Patarkatsishvili could remain as the only opposition candidate. Mikheil Saakashvili attributed the issue on restoration of Imedi TV channel to the entrepreneur. Ex-president wanted guarantee that the pro-opposition TV channel will not participate in dirty games of Badri Patarkatsishvili pursuing dishonest purposes. /APA/
