Miklos Haraszti, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, expressed concern today about the suspension of the work of Imedi TV, Georgia’s most watched independent broadcaster and Kavkasia TV, which transmits in Tbilisi, APA reports.
Haraszti said that media must be able to fulfill their constitutional vocation of informing society about events in the country.
“Pluralism of broadcasting is essential for a democracy. I urge Georgia’s authorities to allow the resumption of Imedi and Kavkasia TV stations,” he said.
Imedi TV and Kavkasia TV were suspended due to Georgia’s declaring state of emergency in the country. /APA/
