Baku-APA. Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi arrived in Iran's capital Tehran on Friday for talks on different topics, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Al-Halqi is expected to meet Iranian high-ranking officials for talk on mutual ties as well as regional issues including the Syrian crisis.
Upon his arrival at Tehran's Mehrabad airport, the Syrian leader congratulated Iranians on what he called their "success and historic achievement in the nuclear deal" reached Sunday in Geneva with the world powers.
He expressed his hope that the deal would have "good consequences" for the region as well as for Syria.
On Wednesday, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu urged a ceasefire in Syria prior to the upcoming Geneva II conference on the crisis in the Arab state.
Iran is the main regional ally of the Syrian government against the opposition in the civil conflicts.
