Baku-APA. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived here Monday for a short visit during which he is expected to meet with Egyptian interim President Adli Mansour, official MENA news agency reported, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Abbas' visit aims to "affirm the constant contact between the Palestinian leadership and its Egyptian counterpart," Palestinian presidency's spokesman Nabil Abu Radina was quoted by MENA as saying.
The spokesman added that Abbas will hold talks with Egyptian officials on the Middle East peace process and the Palestinian people's conditions in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian enclave controlled by Hamas, which is a rival movement to the president's Fatah party.
This is the first visit of Abass to the country after the ouster of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi by the army on July 3.
