Baku-APA. A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed in southern Israeli territory Thursday evening, a statement form the Israeli army said, APA reports quoting AP.
The projectile exploded in an open area, causing no injuries or damage.
Security forces plan to start searching for the rocket's remnants in the morning, a military spokeswoman told Xinhua.
It was the first rocket launched from Gaza in 2014, the army said in the statement. It noted that Gazan militants fired a total of 36 rockets toward Israel in 2013, three of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome rocket defense system.
