Court passes judgment on Azerbaijani activists arrested along with Khalida Khalid in Iran

Baku. Real Jafarli – APA. The court has passed judgment on the Azerbaijani activists arrested along with scientific worker of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Institute of Literature named after Nizami, researcher and writer Khalida Khalid and afterwards. APA reports quoting “Oyannews” that the judgment passed by Tabriz Revolutionary Court on July 15 was disclosed to the activists on July 24.

Two Azerbaijani activists Ilgar Muazzinzade and Mahammad (Okhtay) Rashidi were sentenced to 31-month imprisonment. Muazzinzade was sentenced to 2-year imprisonment over gathering with intent to undermine national security and 91-day imprisonment over anti-government propaganda. Mahammad Rashidi was sentenced to 91-day and a month imprisonment over the same accusations.

Other Azerbaijani activists - ashug Isa Garakhanlu and Amir Hadiyan were released. Tabriz Revolutionary Court passed such a judgment on Azerbaijani activists over the information of the Ministry of Intelligence and National Security of the Islamic Republic of Iran about their communication with Khalida Khalid and distribution of books in Azerbaijani Turkish. Our compatriots have the right to appeal against the judgment within 20 days.
