Baku-APA. An Afghan parliament member was injured in a suicide bomb attack in the country's capital Kabul on Friday, a police chief said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"A suicide bomber who attached explosives in his turban made his way to the home of Hamidullah Tokhi, a representative of southern Zabul province in the lower house of the parliament. Following meeting the MP the attacker detonated his explosive, injuring Tokhi and two of his bodyguards," Kabul Police Chief General Mohammad Zahir told local media.

Shortly after the attack, Tokhi, along with two other injured persons, were shifted to a nearby hospital, the police official said, adding the bomber had died at the scene as a result of the blast.

The incident took place at around 4:30 local time in Kart-e- Parwan area of the city and an investigation was launched into the case, the source noted.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

Afghan officials and pro-government figures have been repeatedly targeted by the militants recently as Taliban insurgents intensified activities against government interest across the country.

A total of 312 civilians, including government civilian employees, were killed and 131 were wounded in targeted killings across the county from January to June, according to official sources.
