Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has commented on the statement made by the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Baghaei stated on X, APA reports.
According to him, the CENTCOM commander openly stated that the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan participated in the US military operations against Iran.
"If this US claim is not true, the aforementioned countries must officially and transparently deny it," Baghaei stressed.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that if, under such circumstances, Iran exercises its legitimate right to self-defense by striking US military bases and facilities located on the territories of those countries, asking, "Why did Iran do this?" would be insincere and groundless.
Baghaei noted that the ongoing security crisis and war in the region are primarily the result of the continuing US and Israeli attacks against Iran.
He added that by allowing their territories to be used for US military operations against Iran, the countries concerned themselves commit an act of aggression under UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 on the "Definition of Aggression." According to him, such actions also violate the principle of good neighborliness and Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter.
The Iranian official concluded by emphasizing that his country's legitimate self-defense measures are aimed at restoring security and stability throughout the region.
