Iran's Foreign Ministry has denied reports claiming that messages are being exchanged with the United States and that Tehran is seeking to hold talks in Geneva or Pakistan, APA's Tehran bureau.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said during his weekly press conference that reports claiming that Iran had requested negotiations do not reflect reality and are inconsistent with the country's political approach.
"Reports claiming that Iran has requested negotiations are fabricated," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed.
He noted that Iran has never refrained from using diplomatic channels to safeguard its national interests, while at the same time avoiding any steps that could create false impressions on the other side.
According to Baghaei, some mediators are conveying messages sent by the United States to Tehran. However, there are currently no direct talks between Iran and the United States.
