A commercial vessel has been struck in the Strait of Hormuz, Fars news agency reports, citing maritime security company Ambrey.
According to the report, the commercial vessel was struck by a projectile while sailing along the southern route of the strait, north of the city of Khasab in Oman.
According to the information, a fire broke out on board the vessel following the strike. Efforts to extinguish the fire are reportedly ongoing.
No information has been provided regarding the name of the vessel, the condition of the crew members, or who carried out the strike.
Note that a number of incidents involving commercial vessels have been recorded in the Strait of Hormuz in recent days. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced on September 23 that a commercial vessel had been struck by an unidentified projectile in the strait, the vessel had caught fire, and the crew had been evacuated.
