At least 15 people were killed and 40 others injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan over the past 24 hours as monsoon rains continued to affect parts of the country, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Wednesday, Xinhua reports.
According to the NDMA, nine deaths and 38 injuries were reported in the eastern Punjab province, while six people were killed and two injured in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The latest fatalities have raised the nationwide monsoon death toll since June 26 to 72, with 187 people injured, the authority said.
The cumulative damage includes 301 houses and 198 livestock, while 31 houses and one livestock were damaged during the last 24 hours, it added. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant as more rainfall is forecast in several parts of the country.
