“Taghiyev: Oil” selected as Azerbaijan’s official Oscar nominee for Best International Feature Film

“Taghiyev: Oil” film has been announced as Azerbaijan’s official nominee in the “Best International Feature Film” category of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ “Oscar” award, the film’s director, Zaur Gasimli told APA.

According to the director, the film was selected as the best feature film of the year by the Azerbaijan Film Academy and submitted as a nominee for the “Oscar” award.

“We are currently among 90 films. In December, 16 of these films will be selected, and in January, 5 films will be determined. Finally, the creative teams of these 5 films will be invited to Los Angeles, and these films will be considered laureates,” said Zaur Gasimli.

Recall that the film was produced by Baku Media Center with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture, and ARKA. “Taghiyev: Oil” is the result of the joint work of a strong creative team. The film’s chief producer is Arzu Aliyeva, producer Orman Aliyev, director Zaur Gasimli, and the screenwriters are Ismayil Iman, Asif Isgandarli, and Zaur Gasimli.
