The “Orient Express – From Vienna to Baku” concert program was presented at the Rashid Behbudov Azerbaijan State Song Theatre on September 26 as part of the 18th Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture told APA.
The concert, held under the direction of Austrian conductor, composer and arranger Markus Geiselhart and accompanied by the Variety Symphony Orchestra, brought together modern orchestral jazz, improvisation and elements of national music.
Along with works by M. Geiselhart, works by Rafig Babayev, Rauf Hajiyev and other Azerbaijani composers, as well as composers from foreign countries, were performed during the evening.
Azad Guliyev (solo alto saxophone, Honored Artist), Firudin Hamidov (solo trumpet), Atabey Ismayilov (solo tar), Hakim Abdullayev (solo zurna and tutek), Afshin Alizade, Elbay Mammadzade and Ali Jafarzade (solo piano), and Fakhri Kazim-Nijat (vocals) performed at the concert.
