The operetta "Arshin mal alan" was performed at Karabakh University as part of the Khankendi City Day organized by the Ministry of Culture, APA's correspondent dispatched to Khankendi reports.
The production director of the performance is Elvin Mirzayev, the restoration director is Ahad Hajiyev, the production conductor is Honored Art Worker Nazim Hajialibeyov, the production artist is Honored Artist Nabat Samedova, the production ballet masters are Honored Artists Zakir and Yelena Aghayev, and the choirmaster is Honored Artist Vagif Mastanov.
The operetta "Arshin mal alan" written by Uzeyir Hajibeyli in 1913 is considered one of the masterpieces of Azerbaijani musical theater. The work centers on the sincere love story of Asker and Gulchohra. The operetta is an artistic expression of new thinking against outdated traditions, the struggle for freedom and love that existed in Azerbaijani society at the beginning of the 20th century.
It should be noted that, by order of President Ilham Aliyev, September 20 is celebrated as the Day of the Cities of Khankendi, Khojaly, Khojavend and Aghdara.
