Renowned Iranian actor Homayoun Ershadi has passed away at the age of 78, APA reports, citing local media.
The actor’s family announced the news.
According to the information, Ershadi died of cancer.
Born in 1947 in Isfahan, Homayoun Ershadi starred in famous films such as “Taste of Cherry,” “The Fifth Reaction,” “The Kite Runner,” and “Somewhere Else.”
The film “Taste of Cherry,” in which he played the leading role, was awarded the “Palme d’Or” at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997.
Homayoun Ershadi won the “Blue Circle” Foundation award in the acting category at the Venice Film Festival and was also nominated for several film awards in Iran and the United States.
He lived in Italy for a while, where he studied architecture, and returned to Iran after 11 years.
