A new $100,000 fee for H-1B visas in the United States goes into effect on Sunday, APA reports, citing the White House.
According to the information, a fee will be charged for each application (petition), but this will not apply to re-entry into the country of existing visa holders.
"This is not an annual fee. This is a one-time fee that applies only to the application," said White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt.
A petition is an official request from a company to bring in qualified workers from abroad.
Leavitt said that H-1B visa holders who are currently outside the country will not be charged $100,000 to return to the United States
