The US military relied on artificial intelligence (AI) when deciding to strike an elementary school for girls in the city of Minab in southern Iran, Bloomberg quoted sources involved in the investigation of the incident as saying, APA reports.
According to their information, the US Central Command responsible for the strike relied too much on the AI built into Palantir's Maven Smart Systems (MSS) systems.
According to Bloomberg sources, just a few hours after the tragedy, Pentagon concluded that the United States was responsible for this strike. When studying the circumstances of the incident, the Ministry of War found that the strike was preceded by not one catastrophic decision, but a string of small decisions.
The US military did not take advantage of a whole series of opportunities to prevent the tragedy, the agency said.
Although the Pentagon almost completed its investigation a few months ago, the report has not yet been made public, Bloomberg says.
