“We have entered a period of relentless human suffering,” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said during the opening of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York, APA reports.
According to him, the principles of the UN are under threat.
“The foundations of peace are collapsing under the weight of impunity and inequality,” the Secretary-General emphasized.
Guterres noted that horrific conditions have persisted in Gaza for nearly three years: “These are the result of decisions that challenge humanity. I have never seen violence like that in Gaza before. Israel is taking more and more lives. The residents of Gaza live deprived of their human rights. Our agreements must be fully implemented.”
