Media: US plans to stop security assistance to Baltic states

The US plans to stop some security assistance to NATO members Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, which border Russia, APA reports citing Reuters.

Pentagon reveals plan to European diplomats

The report says that Pentagon officials told a group of European diplomats in late August that aid to the countries mentioned would be stopped.

During the meeting, Pentagon official David Baker said that Europe should no longer be so dependent on the US. Under President Donald Trump, the US military will focus on other priorities, including the country's own defense.

Priority changes within the framework of the "America First" policy

The plan is being prepared at a time when US President Donald Trump is continuing his "America First" foreign policy. His administration has sharply reduced foreign aid and is encouraging European countries to pay more of their own military spending.
