The U.S. President Joe Biden believes that an alternative to the tough sanctions that Washington has imposed on Moscow would be a “third world war.” The American leader said this in an interview with blogger Brian Cowan. The video was posted on YouTube on Saturday.

“Listen, there were two options: to start a third world war, to start a physical war with Russia, or option number two: to make a country that acts so contrary to international law pay the price for what it did,” the U.S. president said.

He stressed that the sanctions imposed at the moment have become, from his point of view, “the most ambitious in history.” “And Russia will pay a serious price for this both in the short and long term, especially in the long term,” Biden added.
