Victoria Dementyeva – APA. “Azerbaijan has a good reputation in the eyes of the world community in ensuring safety,” said Richard Weitz, Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for Political-Military Analysis at the Hudson Institute, APA reports. He said that actively cooperating with NATO, Azerbaijan is playing an important role in ensuring global security, as well as global energy security. The expert considers that taking into account Azerbaijan’s role as a transit country in the withdrawal of NATO contingent from Afghanistan, the importance of the country in these issues will increase even more.
Touching upon the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project, Weitz noted that the unsolved legal status of the Caspian Sea impedes this project.
