Within the framework of Morocco’s social housing policy, state support has been redirected from indirect subsidies provided to construction companies toward direct assistance for families, Mohamed El Bakkouri, chairman of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) parliamentary group in the House of Councillors of the Kingdom of Morocco, said during the roundtable titled “Parliamentarians: Translating urban commitments into national action – the parliamentary pathway to housing for all” held within the framework of WUF13, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, the reform aims to expand citizens’ opportunities to purchase housing and increase the effectiveness of social housing policy.

Mohamed El Bakkouri noted that within the framework of the 2024–2026 budget laws, a direct financial support mechanism has been introduced for families wishing to acquire a primary residence.

He stated that the Moroccan parliament continuously monitors the implementation of the program and introduces legislative amendments to eliminate problems arising during implementation.

According to the parliamentary group chairman, by the end of 2025, 101,000 families are expected to receive support under this program.

He added that parliament also pays special attention to issues related to land provision, the implementation of social housing projects, and housing financing.

Mohamed El Bakkouri emphasized that the main goal of social housing policy is to ensure access to safe and affordable housing for low-income families, women, and other vulnerable groups.
