Moroccan Heritage Days to be held in Baku

Moroccan Heritage Days will be held in Azerbaijan from September 10 to 14, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Azerbaijan said, APA reports.

The five-day event will be organized by the Embassy in partnership with the Moroccan Association Joussour des Arts et de la Créativité.

The program will introduce Azerbaijani audiences to Morocco’s cultural heritage through fashion, photography, music, gastronomy, traditional craftsmanship and tourism.

A special focus will be placed on the Moroccan caftan. In 2025, UNESCO inscribed “Moroccan Caftan: Art, Traditions and Skills” on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, recognizing the traditional knowledge, craftsmanship and skills associated with this living heritage.

The showcase will also feature the Mlehfa, a traditional dress associated with women from Morocco’s southern provinces and rooted in the cultural heritage of the Moroccan Sahara.

Music, photography, handicrafts and gastronomy will also be featured, offering visitors an insight into Morocco’s cultural traditions and contemporary creativity.

According to the Embassy, Moroccan Heritage Days are aimed at promoting Moroccan culture and strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties between Azerbaijan and Morocco.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco were established in 1992. The visa exemption agreement between the two countries entered into force in August 2024, creating new opportunities for tourism, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
