He said that every country should determine its strategy to combat violence against women. Antonius Broek said violence against women should not be admitted or forgiven.
“It is important to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women, to ensure their political, economic and social rights,” he said.
As regards the situation in Azerbaijan, Antonius Broek said there are some gaps in gender equality, protection of their rights. “The citizens, organizations should unite their efforts in this direction. The UN and the Azerbaijani government are continuing activities to eliminate the gender-based violence. The UN is making joint efforts in this field. The international organization together with the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs has been marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women for 6 years and these activities will be continued,” he said.
