Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei held detailed talks lasting approximately three hours with the President of the Russian Federation, Deputy Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Bagheri said in an interview with Iranian state television, APA's Tehran bureau reports.
According to Bagheri, the main purpose of the visit was to convey a message from Iran's Supreme Leader to Vladimir Putin.
He stated that the message outlined both Iran's key priorities regarding bilateral cooperation and the prospects for such cooperation and mutual relations.
"The aim is for the Russian side to gain a clearer understanding of cooperation with Tehran during the leadership of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei," he said.
Bagheri added that the transportation of Russian gas to Iran and the North-South Corridor are strategic projects. He emphasized that these two projects represent economic opportunities for Iran, which the country can effectively utilize both for the development of the state and the region and for strengthening security.
"The transportation of Russian gas to Iran and the North-South Corridor undermine the unrealistic ambitions of certain powers, including the United States, to keep Iran under pressure," Bagheri said.
