A series of events dedicated to November 8 – Victory Day have been held at the institutions and regional centers of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the Ministry's press service told APA.
Before the events, participants visited the Alley of Martyrs, laid flowers on the graves of the heroic sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's independence and territorial integrity, and honored the cherished memory of the martyrs with deep respect.
The personnel also visited complexes and museums dedicated to the history of the great Victory and learned about the glorious combat history of Azerbaijan's heroic soldiers and officers.
The Ministry's employees then laid flowers at the monument to National Leader Heydar Aliyev and honored the cherished memory of the Great Leader with deep respect.
At the gatherings, which began with the performance of the National Anthem, the cherished memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's independence and territorial integrity was honored with a minute of silence.
The events highlighted the military and political significance of the historic Victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War and provided detailed information about the course of military operations that played a decisive role in restoring Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, the unparalleled heroism demonstrated by the Azerbaijani Army on the battlefield, and the unwavering national solidarity of the Azerbaijani people.
It was stated that Azerbaijan's territorial integrity was ensured thanks to the wise leadership of the country's President, Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the unparalleled bravery of the Azerbaijani Army, and the unity of the people, while the country's state sovereignty was fully restored throughout all its territories as a result of the anti-terrorist measures carried out in 2023.
It was emphasized that November 8 has gone down in history as a triumph of the Azerbaijani people's will, national unity, and determination to uphold their statehood.
As part of the events, information was provided about the combat history of the heroes of the Patriotic War, the sacrifices made by the martyrs, and the historic path leading to Victory, while films dedicated to the subject were screened.
In addition, the Ministry's structures organized tree-planting campaigns dedicated to Victory Day. Various types of trees were planted during the campaigns, and appropriate agrotechnical care was provided.
