The event was jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Kingdom of Belgium, Azerbaijan's Mission to the European Union and its Mission to NATO.

The event was attended by representatives of Belgian government institutions, political, public, business, cultural and academic circles, the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, international organizations, including ambassadors of allied countries to NATO, military representatives and officers of the Alliance's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), media representatives, as well as members of the Azerbaijani community.

Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Belgium Mammad Ahmadzada and Head of Azerbaijan's Mission to NATO Jafar Huseynzada delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

Both diplomats spoke about the historical significance of Victory and the path of struggle of the Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, from the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020 to the anti-terrorist measures carried out in September 2023.

The speeches particularly emphasized the decisive role of President Ilham Aliyev's determined leadership in the full restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty and in achieving historic accomplishments in the military and diplomatic spheres.

The speakers also discussed President Ilham Aliyev's initiatives and leading role in advancing the peace agenda in the post-war period and ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region.

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan had first achieved victory on the battlefield and was now making consistent efforts to establish lasting peace in the region. It was noted that Azerbaijan's proposed peace agenda had laid the groundwork for a new political phase in the South Caucasus, while the necessary conditions for ensuring lasting peace and the opportunities this would create for the region's future development were highlighted.

The speeches also addressed the large-scale restoration and reconstruction work being carried out in the liberated territories, the return of internally displaced persons to their native lands, and measures taken to revive life in those areas.

The memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland was respectfully commemorated, and the importance of efforts to preserve their heroism and pass it on to future generations was emphasized.

Head of Azerbaijan's Mission to NATO Jafar Huseynzada also highlighted the long-standing and multifaceted partnership between Azerbaijan and NATO, discussing its contribution to security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area.

He spoke about various areas of Azerbaijan's partnership with NATO under the Partnership for Peace programme and noted that high-level reciprocal visits demonstrate the high level of political dialogue between Azerbaijan and NATO.
