One of the main topics of the talks was the prospects for developing Azerbaijan-European Union relations, particularly opportunities to further advance cooperation during Lithuania's presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2027.

In this context, issues related to strengthening political dialogue, energy security, strategic connectivity, the Middle Corridor and the Zangezur Corridor, security cooperation, and facilitating people-to-people contacts were discussed.

Elchin Amirbayov highlighted Azerbaijan's strategic role in ensuring Europe's energy security and developing transport and communication links between Europe and Central Asia.

During the meetings, detailed information was provided on the current state of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, particularly the positive momentum observed following the historic agreements reached in Washington on August 8, 2025.

The establishment of trade and transit relations between the two countries, continued work on border delimitation, and confidence-building measures were noted as significant progress achieved in the peace process.
