Baku. Shahriyar Alizade – APA. The prison term of journalist Rauf Mirgadirov’s has been extended, his attorney Elmar Suleymanov told APA.
According to the attorney, a representative of the investigative body has sought at the hearing held at the Nasimi district court another six-month extension of Mirgadirov’s pretrial detention. But the court extended the term of pretrial detention for 4 months, Elmar Suleymanov said he would appeal against the decision.
Mirgadirov was detained last year on April 19 in Turkey and handed over to Azerbaijan, where he was charged with treason (Article 274).
On 19 April 2014, Mirgadirov was sentenced to three months’ pretrial detention. The term of his pretrial detention has been extended for several times since.
