NTRC: CBC Sport should sue channels which unauthorizedly broadcast Premier League matches

Head of NTRC’s Law Department Nemet Javadov told APA that CBC Sport channel should sue the channels which unauthorizedly broadcast the matches without applying it. The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) has sold the broadcast right of Topaz Premier League matches to “CBC Sport” TV channel. Therefore, “CBC Sport” TV channel should sue the channels which unauthorizedly broadcast the matches. This issue should be solved in court”, he said.

N.Javadov added that the Council has no right to intervene in this matter, because the question is the copyright.

It is known that, the broadcast right of the matches of Topaz Premier League has been sold to "CBC Sport" TV channel by AFFA. "CBC Sport" has paid AZN 700.000 for exclusive broadcast right of Topaz Premier League. AFFA, PFL and clubs may not show the matches on sites and TV channels. None of the TV channels except "CBC Sport", has permission filming during the match. The other TV channel representatives may only shoot the press conference. As AFFA and PFL, we are asking all TV channels and sites to apply to "CBC Sport" TV channel for getting the videos and video-reviews of the matches of Topaz Premier League.
