A group of APA reporters visited the township on Monday to observe the progress of the work in the township.
Police and Internal Troops have been in control of the township since November 26. The police posts set up at the entries and exits of Nardaran have not been removed yet, and a special headquarters created in the center of Nardaran continues operating.
Deputy chief of the Baku City Main Police Office, police Major General Sahlab Baghirov is leading the security actions. He told the APA reporters that the township is under their full control.
All places of worship in Nardaran are open and residents are not prevented from entering the mosques in any way.
Mottos, placards, and black flags have been removed from the central streets. Renovation and landscaping work is ongoing in the township.
An administrative building for police is under construction in the center of Nardaran and is expected to be ready by 24 December.
Furthermore, the fire protection depot for the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is being constructed.
New lampposts are being installed in all streets of the township, and telecommunications and electric lines are being renewed. Teams of "Azerigaz" Production Union and Azerishig Open Joint Stock Company are working in the township in emergency mode. The electricity supply has been ensured in many houses in the township. Under the order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on renovation and construction work in Nardaran, enlargement of the streets has been started in the township.
Spokesman for the Transport Ministry’s Azeryolservis OJSC Anar Najafli told APA firstly, two streets in Nardaran are planned to be reconstructed. Najafli said that the total length of the two streets is about 3 km.
“One of the streets will be enlarged up to 18 meters wide and the other up to 16 meters wide. Facilities and residential buildings are being destroyed in the zone of expansion. The streets to be enlarged will be in a modern appearance after the work is done. Pavements in the width of 1.75 meters will be constructed in the streets in two directions. Moreover, lightning system and underground telecommunication lines will be renewed as well,” he noted.
Najafli went on to add that owners of the facilities and residential buildings to be destroyed will receive compensation.
Nardaran residents expressed their concerns regarding compensation, noting that they have not been given any information about the amount of compensation and the form of its payment.
Ibrahim Karbalayev, head of Azerigaz public relations department, told APA that Azerigaz’s employees carried out technical inspection in a number of houses in Nardaran, renewed the contracts and installed gas meters in these houses. Gas supplied was restored in these houses. “Approximately more than 500 subscribers were provided with natural gas,” he said.
Karbalayev noted that gas supply to other streets of the township will be restored in stages.
Nardaran residents told APA that water supply was also restored, water meters were installed.
Note that, Nardaran residents’ gas debts reached AZN 1,376,000 (AZN 387 330 for 2013, AZN 558 624 for 2014 and AZN 450 363 for 10 months of 2015).
Local residents highly-estimated the renovation work underway in the township.
Resident Sarvar Aghayev told APA that socio-cultural infrastructure of Nardaran is being renewed and expressed his gratitude to the president for allocating funds from the state budget to solve the social problems of the residents. “Nardaran is being rebuilt. We are all excited about the ongoing . We have always been and will be satisfied with our president and government,” he added.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on allocating AZN 12 million for landscaping work in Nardaran township of Baku, renovation of its social-cultural infrastructure, and solution of social problems in the township.
"Azerishig", "Azersu" JSC, "Azerigas" PU and "Azeravtoyolservis" JSC are due to address the social problems faced by Nardaran residents.
