Military parade dedicated to 70th anniversary of Victory kicks off in Moscow  - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

Moscow. Farid Akberov – APA. Military parade dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory over fascism kicked off on Red Square, Moscow.

 

APA’s Moscow correspondent reports that the parade started with Minister of Defense General of the Army Sergey Shoigu’s reporting to President of Russia, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin.

 

Then, Vladimir Putin delivered his address.

 

The parade began with a minute of silence to honor the memory of all those who died in the Great Patriotic War for the first time in the history of victory parades.

 

Officials from more than 40 countries, heads of state and government of 27 countries are attending the parade. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva are also attending the solemn ceremony.

 

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and other senior officials of international organizations are on Red Square.

 

Military parades are being held in other cities of Russia as well.
